MAYA
(sparrow)

Lumilipad sila sa kalangitan
(they fly in the sky)
Kay ganda nilang tingnan
(they are beautiful to see)
Parang mga batang nasa lansangan
(just like the children on the streets)

Dumadapo sa puno na kanilang kaibigan
(they perch on the trees of their friends)
Kanilang tirahan pagdating ng kadiliman
(this is their home when darkness falls)
Sa umaga dito rin sila tumatahan
(in the morning this were they will reside)

Sa mga huni nila ay para silang nag-aawitan
(their chirping seems like they are singing)
Nagsasabing mayroong magandang
(someone said that there is a good )
Umaga tayong pupuntahan
(Morning which we will go to)

Bigla na lang akong nagtaka
(but suddenly Im confused)
Sila’y bihira ko nang makita
(i rarely see them nowadays)
Yun pala’y nasa pistahan na
(that’s because they are in the fiest)

Kinulayan para maging kahali-halina
(They were painted with different colors to become attractive)
Berde at bughaw, dilaw at pula
(green and blue , yellow and red)
Iniiyakan ng bata pagkatapos ng misa
(the child is crying for this after the mass)

Nakahahabag na nilalang
(what a pity to the bird)
Hindi man lang sila ginagalang
(they get no respect)
Nang iba nating mga kababayan
(some of our countrymen)

Kung hindi mawawakasan
(if we do not put an end)
Ang ganitong pagkakakitaan
(To this form of business)
Ang ibon ng bayan
(The bird of our country)
Bukas ay hindi mo na masisilayan
(tomorrow you will not see again)
